Football Against Racism in Europe

Within all-European program (dates: 17-30 October 2007) and under the guidance of UEFA so called “Week of football deeds against racism in Europe”. Organization FARE (Football Against Racism in Europe, www.farenet.org) backed initiative of the Public organization “Karpaty” with respect to carrying out such action in Lviv.
Teams consisted of either foreign students or national minorities living in Lviv.
Teams were split into two groups: group “A”: Poland, Nigeria, Lebanon, Morocco; group “B”: Ukraine, Bulgaria, Tunisia, Armenia. The tournament started with matches Nigeria v Poland (3:0) and Lebanon v Bulgaria (0:1). Almost all matches proved to be very close and entertaining.
Nigeria defeated Ukraine in the final game, Morocco proved to be stronger than Bulgaria in the match for 3-rd place.
The FARE tournament was very successful and drew a lot of attention from different media(TV channels, newspapers etc.).All partisipants received special prizes, first three teams additionally got nice sets of medals (for 1,2 and 3 places). Everyone seemed to be satisfied, many participants asked when next such tournament would take place in Lviv. |
